Where is Ha Giang Located?

Best time to visit Ha Giang
You can travel to Ha Giang in any season of the year, as the winding roads in the Karst Plateau Geopark are beautiful whenever you come. Recommended time to travel here: October – November is Buckwheat flower season, November to December is Cruciferae season and Spring is the season of Plum blossom.
Attractions in Ha Giang
Some of major attractions in Ha Giang: Dong Van Highland markets, Ma Phi Leng Pass, Lung Cu Flag Tower, Vuong Family’s Residence, Quan Ba heaven gate, Quan Ba valley, roadside stops, Cruciferae fields, white plum blossom gardens, rice terraces stretching on the mountain side at Hoang Su Phi district. Depending on your travelling time and interest, you should combine some attractions accordingly.

Hotels in Ha Giang will run out early on the festive occasions, so if you are going to enjoy a self-planned tour on these occasions, it is recommend to make reservation early. The price is affordable, cheap hotels are located around the old Dong Van market, the price is only from USD7 per night for a single room, however, it is quite difficult for foreign visitors to make reservation at these hotels in advance.
How to Ha Giang from Ha Noi?
Hanoi to Ha Giang by long-distance bus
You can take the night bus to Ha Giang, it is time-saving and you may sleep during the ride. In Ha Giang, you can rent a motorbike for sightseeing. It is recommended to spend two days to fully explore Ha Giang (Departing from Ha Giang city and then back here in the afternoon of the following day, returning the motorcycles then taking bus to Hanoi in the evening).
Or you can take the long-distance bus from Ha Giang to Dong Van, (it will not stop at Quan Ba twin mountain and Heaven Gate), so it would be much more convenient if you travel by motorcycle. You can ask the bus drivers whether they can transport the motorbike for you.
Hanoi to Ha Giang by motorbike
At least you should go in 4 days to fully explore Ha Giang. In the first day, you will drive from Hanoi to Ha Giang (318 kilometres), then have lunch in Ha Giang, drive to Dong Van in the afternoon, (132 kilometres), visit Quan Ba heaven gate on the way, then spend night in Dong Van.
In the second day, you can visit Lung Cu, Vua Cat, Dong Van Market, Ma Pi Leng and spend the night in Meo Vac. The third day, travelling from Meo Vac to Ba Be, spending the night at Ba Be. The fourth day, you can spend the whole day exploring Ba Be, then coming back to Hanoi in the afternoon.
Following this route, you can go to Ba Be and admire the beautiful Phia Oac forest on the way.
